About Matthew B. Lynch

Matthew B. Lynch is currently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He focuses on Islamic Studies, particularly the history and cultural production of medieval Anatolia. His dissertation investigates the composition of Rumi's main epic work, Masnavi-e Ma'navi, using the lens of scripture and the production of community as key areas of inquiry. 

Previously, he earned a Masters degree from the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Chicago. He did his undergraduate work at Marlboro College in Vermont and St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He currently resides in Durham, North Carolina.
